Genesis 1

29. God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.

30. To every animal [H5315] of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;" and it was so.

31. God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

Notes and References

Note from Colin Ayres:

Verse 29 shows the design God had for human life to eat seeds fruits and plants, and verse 30 plants for animals nephesh and cropping things also plants to eat, We were not designed to eat each other and were not designed to harm each other. We have the same soul, 5315 Nephesh, which is also the name for 'animals'.

NB: (Colin Ayres July 2025): There is no use of the word STOCK in reference to animals in the Bible. The word is Behomah, H0929, cattle or beasts that often share in human suffering for sin, they suffer in times of drought and war just as humans do and the same in times of God punishment. In Matthew 21.1 , when Jesus rejected doves being sold in the Temple, this idea of selling lives was rejected.
